History

Government Engineering College (GEC), Buxar is one of the new Government Engineering Colleges established by the Government of Bihar under the Science, Technology and Technical Education Department. GEC Buxar started its first academic session in 2019 at the Campus of Bakhtiyarpur College of Engineering, Bakhtiyarpur, Bihar. Now, the College has been shifted in 15th April 2024 to its permanent campus, which is located at Mahdah, Itarhi road, adjacent to police line, Buxar.
The History of Buxar dates back to the period of Ramayana. Mythological narration shows glorious past and rich heritage of the district. This place finds its linkage with auspicious story of Lord Ram, Sage Vishwamitra, Devi Ahilya. Situated on the bank of river Ganga & Karmanasa, this district has prominent place in the history of modern India as Battle of Buxar & Chausa have changed the course of history of our nation.
The new college has five engineering branches – Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, with an intake of 60 each, and Computer science engineering, with an intake of 120 students.
